Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient operation in supervision of electrical equipment and installations including:

legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures

procedures for providing information

electrical hazards identification procedures

electrical risk assessment procedures

procedures for the preparation of work procedure and instruction works effectively with others to plan, prepare and conduct the operation of electrical equipment and installations including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities

provide team leadership

demonstrates completion of supervising the operation of electrical equipment and installations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

accessing and interpreting electrical diagrams

apply procedures for the preparation of work procedure and instructions

selecting and confirming available resources for the work activity

identifying and implementing improvements to work programs

implementing processes and procedures to minimise risks and hazards from electrical energy


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in supervising the operation of electrical equipment and installations through:

accessing, interpreting and applying legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

hazard and risk identification and management

statutory compliance

work health and safety

environmental issues

organisation’s requirements and procedures

electrical risk treatment procedures

procedures for identifying training needs and implement training

recording and reporting procedures

human resource management

identifying and managing potential electrical hazards

identifying basic electrical terminology and theory of operation of common electric motors and control equipment

identifying, interpreting and confirming types of electrical supply systems

identifying and applying potential electrical inefficiencies

completing written reports
